Proposed New Interior

This is the proposed interior for my Cape Dory 28. I have decided to remove the interior between the cockpit footwell bulkhead and the main bulkhead. There is 9' 9" between the bulkheads, just enough space to accomodate the new arrangement. Into this space I will install the new interior layout. There will be two settee/quarter berths aft. The galley will be relocated forward and to port. The space opposite and to starboard will become galley storage and the nav station.
The head will be relocated to the starboard side into what is now the hanging locker. CD 28 interior layouts were changed slightly over the years. This is what my original layout was like. The space where the original head is located will be converted into storage.
The "V" in the forward berth will be removed. In its place a new partial bulhead will be installed just forward of the cabin bulkhead. This will convert the "V" into much needed storage space. Since the "V" is removed from the forward berth the permanent berth will be 4' wide at the aft end. On the outboard sides of the berth I will add two small storage areas as shown. The black dot at the forward end of the berth is the location of the anchor chain hawse pipe. The chain will store in a new locker fabricated under the forward end of the berth.
Water tankage will possibly be in the forward ends of the settees and under part of the forward berth. A new tank under the cabin sole will be fabricated. This will be used for diesel approx. size 30-40 gallons. The existing 12 gallon fuel tank will be relocated and used as a day tank for the engine.
An LPG storage locker will be incorporated into the cockpit footwell. The tiller location shown is relocated from the original and attached to the new rudder . Since this is farther aft it helps to increase usable space in the cockpit.
