Since my return from the south Pacific over a decade has past. At the time I was in my mid 40's and decided it was time to become responsible for my finanacial future. So I swallowed the anchor, got a full time regular job and eventually purchased some real estate. All went well and I now persued other interests. I studied the internet and computers as an avocation. I again put on my blue collar and worked for many years in the construction industry.  The warm tropical waters and sun dappled lagoons of the Pacific a fondly remembered, slowing fading memory.

Seven years later a work related injury altered plans for my future. I sold out from the fast paced life of southern California and relocated once again to balmy Florida. I spent months reviewing my options and considered my future. When I left SoCal I toyed with the idea of going sailing once more. It took six months for this seed to grow into another bout of sailing mania. Here I sit just having had my 56th birthday and for a present to myself I bought a Cape Dory 28.

I remember looking at a CD 28 years earlier somewhere in Florida. At that time it was a brand new dealer's boat. I whistfully dreamed of owning her but at the time I did not have the resources to make it happen, now I do.

I checked the internet and started boat shopping. I went to Texas, Punta Gorda, St. Louis and finally Virginia. There I made an offer for a CD 28. The next day, my birthday, the broker called to tell me my offer was accepted. The soon to be called FêNIX was mine.

While Cape Dory built many fine boats the needs of ocean sailing are stringent. So I will once again don not only a sailor's cap but the builder's cap as well. I already have in mind the modifications that will be needed to make FêNIX ready to sail the oceans of the world. As time passes you can check the Projects page for progress.
